Objectives of the Position:
Ensure timely registration of Agrochemical Products, Pest Control and Non-Crop products in Indonesia to support business objectives
Ensure that BASF has the license to operate and sell crop protection and other related products in Indonesia
To lead the Regulatory team by acting as a role model and coaching the team for high performance in Indonesia
Main Tasks:
Accountable to provide regulatory guidance to our business units about active ingredient/products. To be consulted by regional and global colleagues on country-specific regulatory guidance
Design optimized registration strategies for products in the country to support the agreed business goals considering potential short and long term issues and trends.
Lead implementation of country regulatory strategy & budget for key products and to manage country specific pesticide issues. Coordinate execution of related activities by Development & Regulatory teams involving as appropriate with Marketing, Development, Operation units
Interact with relevant external authorities. Maintain strong and effective relationship with relevant Government Agencies (Pesticide Committees and other Ministries), Universities, Research Centers and other Regulatory authorities
Identify potential Regulatory changes or issue (including banning and prohibition) in Indonesia and report to business, Regional and/Global Regulatory on the issue and implications for the portfolio
Implement the Regional and Global Regulatory strategy for key products and to manage country specific pesticide issues
Advocate better pesticide regulations with authorities and other stakeholders.
Responsible for country registration dossiers: contribute to content, review and ensure consistency of parts provided by functional units; communicate decisions. Address related issues and coordinate scientific support. Interact and negotiate with representatives from governmental authorities to achieve regulatory objectives
Maintain up to date and reliable regulatory information in the databases; Regstat, GIS4GAP (upcoming RegOne), STRIVE and other relevant database
Provide leadership in product stewardship / sustainability programs related to the active ingredient or products under responsibility
Represent BASF Indonesia and active participation in CropLife Indonesia in the Regulatory Working Group, and other industry association as appropriate
Provide guidance and training to colleagues on Regulatory and other related subjects
Active participation in the people development topic with the Regional and Global Regulatory Team
Support registration activities of the Genetically Modified Events
Along with Business Go to Market strategy and future business set up, the responsibility could be extended to support other country registration activities in several countries. This will be discussed accordingly.
Job Requirements:
1. Education:
Master Degree in Agriculture or related sciences
Bachelor Degree has to be compensated by experiences
2. Working Experience:
Min 10 years’ experience in regulatory affairs in agrochemical industry with leadership experience
Experience in dealing with authorities (committees, regulators, policy makers)
Experience in biological efficacy, residue trials, e-fate/ecotoxicology, toxicology etc
Network in Authorities, Government structures, Research institutes, Advisors, etc.
3. Technical & Professional Knowledge:
Expertise in assessing safe use of pesticides
Strong comprehension level of agrochemical regulatory procedures, registration processes, data requirements for registration, social significance and regulatory authorities structures.
Knowledge of crop protection industry: technical, commercial, farming techniques, crop specific issues, GAP’s etc
Ability to build a good rapport with Government agencies and other relevant stakeholders, understand sensitivities
4. Other requirements:
Good command of English, both speaking and writing

Good interpersonal and communication skill especially in influencing authorities and representing company
