SITE: ADELANTO HIGH SCHOOL

DAYS: 204

HOURS: 8 HOURS (7:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.)

SALARY: RANGE 37 ($32.49 - $39.49/HR)

Under the supervision of Site Administration, the Visual and Performing Arts Specialist is responsible for leading and overseeing the technical operations of the Performing Arts Center and other District event facilities. This includes managing stage, sound, lighting, and communications systems, as well as coordinating various productions and events. The role involves organizing, maintaining, and communicating the school and/or District calendar of events, and ensuring all events are adequately supported by the necessary staff and technical resources.

Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education: High school diploma or its equivalent. Coursework in Technical Theater, Event Planning, or a related field is desired.

TRANSCRIPTS/CERTIFICATIONS RELATED TO TECHNICAL THEATER, EVENT PLANNING, OR RELATED FIELDS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ATTACHED TO YOUR APPLICATION UPON SUBMISSION

Experience Required: Three (3) years of experience in the operation of technical theater productions, with coursework or experience in sound and lighting systems, electrical codes, and OSHA regulations. Preferred: Experience in a school setting.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

OSHA - 30 certification. This certification must be obtained within six months of date of hire.

Essential Duties

Operate a variety of technical equipment and tools, such as audio systems, moving consoles, signal processing units, recording devices, computer control boards, stage rigging, lifts, and power tools. E

Collaborate with Administration to develop a facilities/events plan to ensure smooth operation of facilities during events. E

Assist in the promotion of events by providing technical information and support for marketing materials, ensuring that technical requirements are accurately communicated. E

Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized services such as equipment rental, technical support, and facility maintenance, ensuring that all external parties meet District standards and requirements; Act as a liaison with staff and community users regarding the use of site and District facilities; Provide positive and effective customer service to students, staff, parents, and the community.E

Manage the scheduling of District facilities for various events and activities; Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the success of the event and identify areas for improvement in facility operations, technical support, and overall event management. E

Set up and prepare the Performing Arts Center and other facilities for events, including lighting, sound, and staging: Offer technical guidance and assistance in the design and maintenance of lighting and sound systems. E

Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and event setup guides, to ensure consistency and accuracy in event production. E

Accurately prepare and submit records, reports, and other required information in a timely manner; Assist the preparation of annual budget requests related to facility operations and events scheduling. E

Maintain and manage an inventory of all technical equipment and supplies, ensuring that all items are in good working condition and properly stored. Coordinate repair or replacement of equipment as necessary. E

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities / Working Conditions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to coordinate and supervise the work of other employees.

Strong knowledge of stage, lighting, sound, and communication design techniques and methods. Proficiency in theatrical lighting and sound equipment preparation, sound and light board programming, and operating a fly system.

Ability to identify potential hazards and take appropriate corrective actions.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with administrators, staff, the public, and outside agencies.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks concurrently.

Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds and have a full range of motion in the spine and extremities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environment:

The Facilities and Events Specialist may be required to work evenings, depending on the scheduling of events and activities.

Work will be performed in a variety of environments, including indoor spaces such as the Performing Arts Center, classrooms, auditoriums, and other District facilities, as well as outdoor event spaces.

The work environment may involve exposure to high noise levels, especially during events involving sound systems, live performances, or construction and setup activities.

The position may require working in low-light or dimly lit environments, such as during performances or in backstage areas.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear in person and by telephone.

Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, and operate computers and standard office equipment.

Frequent walking and standing, and the ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
