Job Description -Welder I
The position of Welder fabricating metal products as required using various equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Production
Weld and fabricate basic items with initial assistance.
Perform beginner level set-ups following department guidelines.
Prepare product for movement to next department.
Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task. Identify potential issues and take corrective action. Involve appropriate staff when necessary.
Work with team members and Lead to problem solve and to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment, manually, or using a lift truck.
Department Flow
Promptly report shortages of components through proper channels.
Works autonomously once set up or within the group.
Proficient with most equipment in the area and be willing and able to learn new things.
Quality & Training
Understand the requirements of job to assure quality, accurate quantity and on-time production.
Participate in quality initiatives when applicable.
Maintenance and Safety
Follow company policy pertaining to maintenance and safety requirements.
Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
Maintain a clean environment and always organized.
Report any downed machines, safety violations or accidents through proper channels.
Chapco Team Player
Willing to think outside the box when problem solving and participate in any project not necessarily falling within this description as necessary or applicable. Collaborate with fellow staff members to assure the success of all.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge of material identification and learning welding equipment set-up.
Ability to read and comprehend blue prints including weld symbols.
Able to Mig and Tig weld carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel.
Learning about common weld defects and their causes
Work in fast paced environment with fast changing priorities.
Understand and utilize proper lifting and rigging techniques
Proven measurement skills.
Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper and Brass.
Flexible schedule is required; this position requires shift work as well as some OT and weekend work.
Strong team player and reliable.
High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
