Cascade Middle School is seeking an Academic and Student Success Coach - Dean of Engagement to join our team of educators for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year!
PROFILE: The Dean of Engagement is an essential part of our Leadership Team, focused on engaging and empowering every young person at Cascade. We are seeking a team member who can articulate and implement a vision of instruction and culture, support schoolwide supervision and universal classroom practices, engage compassionately with students and families, and provide direct coaching and thought-partnership to a variety of stakeholders to bring others along in their vision. This person should be prepared to lead on:
Social Emotional Learning. Articulate a vision, scope, and sequence of current and incoming aspects of our SEL program, providing professional development and targeted coaching to act on this vision of culture, especially in the settings of Advisories.
Tier 1 Universal Practices. Synthesize current understanding of schoolwide instructional practices and incoming district guidance around literacy, providing professional development and targeted coaching/modeling to realize this vision of instruction.
Schoolwide Supervision. Support Dean of Culture to implement routines for climate/culture, including responding to behavior, engaging with students and families in crisis, leveraging social emotional learning, and providing targeted support to staff in order to build their capacities around restorative and accountable practices.
Student Leadership. Evaluate current program offerings that empower our young people, including reviewing Panorama data and anecdotal evidence to notice where there are gaps and barriers to specific demographics of students, and working to remove those barriers and open up new opportunities for student voice and agency in our school’s systems and routines.
Community Partnerships. Our White Center community is a valued stakeholder in our systems, programs, and decision-making matrices. Cultivate existing partnerships and nurture new ones based on a deep understanding of students’ strengths, identities, and interests, including organizing for after school programming.
Family Engagement With Instructional Program. Organize events that bring families into the learning space, including Business Day, Open House, Student Led Conferences, and heritage/multicultural events. Support teachers to build out their routines around family and community engagement in their own instructional contexts.
SUMMARY: The position of Academic and Student Success Coach will support students in excelling both academically and socially. This person works as a liaison between the classroom teacher and the student keeping students on track, checking on progress and solving student challenges. They work collaboratively with school and district staff, students and their families to implement and manage intervention strategies promoting student academic and/or social/emotional skills. The Academic and Student Success Coach will at times interact one-on-one or in small groups to understand and support students. In addition, the Academic and Student Success Coach may support the administrative team by heading up the school’s PBIS three tiered systems, coordinate/support teachers with social skills curriculum and reach out to family and community partners to build student culture.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

CERTIFICATION: Current WA State Teaching Certificate OR WA State ESA School Counselor OR WA State ESA Psychologist Certificate and
Two years working directly with children/youth in schools and/or equivalent settings
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Criminal background clearance and all certificates, licenses, endorsements, permits, and vaccines (absent exemption) as required for this position by state and local authorities.
