Job Description

Gilead Research is looking for an experienced proteomics scientist to join the Mass Spectrometry group in the Protein Therapeutics department. The successful candidate will collaborate with project teams and therapeutic areas as a subject matter expert, assist in study design, data analysis and results interpretation, in addition to managing experiments. This individual contributor role will manage outsourced studies and conduct independent laboratory work. The ideal candidate should possess:

Deep understanding of current proteomics and mass spectrometry techniques,

Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, and

Proficiency in proteomics data analysis tools and methodologies.

Functions and Responsibilities

Design and execute proteomics studies to enable project teams.

Manage outsourcing of proteomics studies, ensuring quality and timely delivery of results.

Perform in house studies on biological samples, such as characterizing PTMs or measuring relative protein abundance.

Analyze, interpret, and present data at team meetings to guide decision making.

Develop strategy for the evaluation and implementation of proteomics technologies.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in the field of proteomics.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Extensive hands-on experience on the use of mass spectrometry for proteomics applications is required.

Experience in methods such as DIA, TMT, photocatalytic labeling and chemo-proteomics is highly desired.

Proven track record of delivering decision making data to small or large molecule drug discovery project teams.

Experience operating and analyzing data from ThermoFisher Orbitraps is desired; Knowledge and experience in other platforms is a plus.

Proficiency in interpreting and performing statistical analysis on large proteomics datasets.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this collaborative role.

Minimum relevant industrial experience

Senior Scientist: 8+ Years with BS; 15+ Years preferred; 6+ Years with MS; 12+ Years preferred; 3+ Years with PhD; 3+ Years and postdoctoral training preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $169,320.00 - $219,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
