Diesel Generator Mechanic Lead- Naval Base Ventura CountyCompetitive Salary and Employer Paid Health Benefits!

The Diesel Generator Mechanic Lead is responsible for the overall management of large stationary diesel generators and ancillary equipment maintenance and repair spanning three locations. Work involves oversite and performance of preventive maintenance, including fluid and filter changes, battery servicing, maintenance and inspection of ancillary equipment. Work may include inspecting equipment, diagnosing and repair of malfunctions to the generator’s mechanical equipment and systems. Work may involve disassembly of components to perform repairs using hand tools.

The Diesel Generator Mechanic Lead responsibilities include oversite and performance of routine preventive maintenance, replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock, ordering replacement parts from OEM Distributors or sourcing from local vendors. The mechanic will also be required to provide written reports documenting maintenance performed and actions taken. Additional duties also include preparing written scope and estimates for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops, reassembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation.

*This position may require supervision of or directing general maintenance workers or maintenance trades helpers to support CM and PM.Salary

$90,000 - $100,000 (DOE, relevant OEM /model generator experience and certifications) plus employer paid insurance!

Key Responsibilities

Inspect and maintain diesel generators and related electronic equipment

Perform preventive maintenance to include oil and filter changes, adjustment and replacement of belts, replacement of air and fuel filters

Diagnose, service and repair systems that are found on diesel generators and equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls

Maintain service logs and records of maintenance on pieces of equipment

Maintains supply of spare parts

Prepare equipment repair orders to include time and materials

Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition

Provide leadership when required

Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques

Performs additional duties as assigned

Essential Skills

Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of various makes, models and sizes of diesel generators and ancillary equipment and systems

Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of diesel generators and equipment

Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment

Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions

Ability to read and implement guidance from OEM manuals and schematics

Be adaptable and flexible in work situations

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

5+ years’ experience where the job duties include operation of large diesel generators and experience in mechanical equipment repair

Formal Training/ Experience with Cummins and Caterpillar engines

Valid driver’s license

Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check to obtain base access

Reliable: wants to be part of a team

U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
