Job Description: General Description Intake Division: The purpose of this position is to evaluate criminal felony cases, coordinate with law enforcement, make appropriate charging decisions, draft charging language, and prepare cases for grand jury.
This position works independently on individual cases but will coordinate screening and intake assignments within the division, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position.
Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
* Drafts complaints and indictments * Screens cases submitted by law enforcement * Evaluates and reviews evidence, reports, and recordings * Determines appropriate criminal charges * Advises law enforcement and investigators when further investigation is needed * Reads and researches case law * Complies with discovery requirements; * Represents the State in District Court Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires graduation from an accredited Law School and admitted to the practice of law in the State of Texas supplemented by two (2) years of litigation/prosecutorial experience.
Physical Demands: * Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Special Certifications and Licenses: * Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
* Requires license to practice law in the State of Texas.
