Our Mission: Since the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, our organization has aimed to connect people to the natural environment and human history.
The position will participate in digitization projects supported by the National Science Foundation, capturing digital images of scientific specimens of bryophytes and lichens. The position will have the singular role of digitization of plant and lichen specimens as a primary responsibility. This includes data entry, capturing of digital images from herbarium specimens, data and image quality control, and assisting in some pre-digitization curation, e.g., sorting, filing, applying barcodes, re-packeting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Databasing
Digital photography of specimens (bryophytes and lichens)Process and refile specimens returned from loans, acquisitions, and specimens pulled by visitors to maintain the integrity of the collection [50%]
Preparation of specimens for photography
Quality control of databasing and digital images and digital assets

Cooperative team and independent worker
Operation and care of digital photographic assets is required. Sitting, standing will be standard with no exceptional heavy lifting. Limited to trays of specimens.
Pursuing an undergraduate studies degree in biological, environmental studies or similar field
Pay Range: $19.00/hourly
