MIG Welder

Position: MIG Welder Location: Richmond, VA Job Type: Contract to Hire Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Monday - Friday) Pay Rate: $23.00 - $24.00 (Depending on Experience) Benefits/Incentive: Insurance Offered (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.) Qualdoc is looking for talented MIG Welders to support an industrial manufacturer in Richmond, VA.

You will be responsible for welding a variety of metal and steel fabricated parts using welding equipment.

This role requires the use of a variety of tools including a straight edge, combination square, and ruler.

You will fabricate based on blueprints and shop drawings.

Duties:

Adjusts and uses torch and plasma cutter and/or grinder properly in standard/non-standard positions following engineering drawings.

Welds in vertical, flat, horizontal, or overhead positions.

Uses basic hand tools, such as tape measure, square, clamps, etc., to verify proper weld application and quality of weldments.

Examines work pieces for defects and ensures conformance with specifications.

Welds out components previously tack welded by experienced welders.

Prep and finish metal components by grinding or sanding.

Operates material handling equipment.

Operates overhead crane/hoist.

Responsible for movement of material or product and proper storage.

Must be physically able to wear required appropriate personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, protective apron and/or leather attire, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and fresh air/forced air respirator as required.

Performs MIG welding and some TIG welding.

You Must Have:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience in manufacturing

3.5 years of experience in MIG welding

Able to read shop drawings, blueprints, and engineering drawings

Able to read a tape measure, and ruler, and use measurement tools

Strong math skills

Strong mechanical aptitude

Ability to lift 50 lbs

Preferred Skills:

TIG welding is a plus

ERP experience preferred (JD Edwards)
