JOB SUMMARY
The position will support the PhD in Nursing program through teaching and coaching responsibilities including individual support of students as well as online/synchronous didactic courses, assignment grading, and dissertation, research, and course support. This position will collaborate with the lead faculty, Student Advisor, Faculty Support Coordinator and ultimately the Chair of the PhD program and Deans. Position will be responsible to support student advising and scholarship including the guided research project and dissertation process. The evaluation of the student includes dissertation requirements, student learning objectives, and program learning outcomes. The preferred candidate should have graduate level instruction, scholarship, and research experiences. Position will include opportunities to participate in the School of Nursing and University responsibilities. Candidate must have an RN license in one of the 50 states, a PhD or EdD with dissertation, and possess excellent personal communication skills and computer/technology skills. Candidates must be committed to the evangelical standards and mission of Liberty University and the School of Nursing.
The PhD in Nursing Dissertation Chair/Reader position is considered an Online Adjunct Professor position with the School of Nursing. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to administering dissertation courses in accordance with assigned schedule, providing detailed feedback, mentoring/challenging students to grow intellectually and spiritually, maintaining contact with students to advise on matters related to academic achievement, attendance, and behavior, and maintaining/reporting grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for
Administrative duties such as roster verification, course management, and final grade submission.
Classroom responsibilities include timely communication with students (response to questions and grading are included in this), facilitate learning, and mentor/coach students.
Teach material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
Advise/guide students through the dissertation process that culminates in successful dissertation defense.
Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
Provide regular and timely feedback to students.
Participate in School retention initiatives by maintaining productive contact with students and reaching out to absent students in attempt to re-engage them in classroom activities.
Participate in School assessment initiatives as assigned including: online assessment activities, course enhancement feedback, classroom success data analysis, annual self-evaluation.
Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behavior.
Motivate students to actively participate in all aspect of the educational process.
Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with University policies
Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Must have PhD or EdD degree with dissertation from an accredited nursing or related program.
Must have valid RN license without encumbrances from one of the 50 US states.
Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Superior interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills required.
Creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills required.
Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in MS Office, Blackboard/Canvas and the Internet.
Able to obtain and maintain additional nursing licenses if applicable as required by state or accrediting commissions.
Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the college level is essential.
