Job Title: Manual Machinist
Location: St Rose, LA
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work with blueprints and technical drawings to fabricate custom parts and components.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and other machining equipment to produce high-quality parts.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to determine machining specifications.
Measure, examine, and test completed parts to ensure they meet precise specifications.
Perform machining operations such as drilling, turning, milling, boring, and grinding on metal and plastic materials.
Adjust feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and machine settings for optimal performance.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machining equipment.
Work with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to ensure parts fit within project specifications.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while following safety guidelines.
Keep accurate records of job completion and material usage.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or similar role in a fabrication or machine shop.
Proficiency in using manual lathes, mills, and grinders (CNC experience is a plus but not required).
Strong knowledge of machining tools, materials, and processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Skilled in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Basic welding or fabrication knowledge is a plus.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Technical or trade school certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
3+ years of hands-on experience in manual machining.
