The Clinical Director of Residential Treatment is responsible for the clinical leadership and clinical integrity of our residential treatment programs for youth with co-occurring developmental disabilities and behavioral health conditions. Services include residential, behavioral health, and medical care for multi-system youth and young adults in supported living, intermediate care facilities (ICFs), and psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) programs. This position requires a strong clinical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for helping others. The Clinical Director will be responsible for developing and providing training, supervision, and driving implementation of strengths-based, trauma-informed care to support individualized, whole-person care. The Clinical Director will be responsible for the development of innovative programming while driving evidence-based treatment, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to our residents and their families. The Clinical Director will work closely with the Operations Director, medical team, leadership team, and program staff to implement organizational goals and ensure compliance with regulatory standards in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:
Oversee the development and implementation of trauma-informed, comprehensive, evidence-based treatment programs. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment interventions.
Provide clinical oversight and direction for all aspects of the residential treatment programs.
Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards, including licensing, accreditation, and HIPAA.
Ensure appropriate development and implementation of comprehensive treatment plans for each resident, including behavioral interventions, medication management, and therapeutic modalities.
Provide direct supervision to the clinical staff, including behavioral health therapists, behavior analysts, behavior specialists, and other clinical professionals to ensure quality care and effective treatment delivery.
Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to staff members as appropriate by licensure.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
Provide coordination of ancillary service providers, including scheduling and contracting with to ensure client needs are met through whole person care.
Program Management:
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the quality clinical treatment and ensure safety, well-being, and overall quality of life for residents.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, licensing, and accreditation standards.
Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance program outcomes; collect, monitor, and action data to ensure quality.
Complete all reporting requirements in accordance with licensing, accreditation, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the referral, admission, transfer, and discharge processes to promote appropriate access to care and support smooth transitions.
Collaborate with other departments within the organization to coordinate services and ensure seamless transitions for residents.
Oversee the development and implementation of crisis intervention plans and emergency procedures.
Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, and train qualified clinical staff members.
Provide ongoing supervision, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities for clinical staff. Address performance issues as needed.
Foster a positive and supportive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
Address staff concerns and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work collaboratively with the leadership team, the Operations Director, program leadership, and other departments to achieve organizational goals.
Maintain effective communication channels with staff, residents, families, and external stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including healthcare providers, schools, county and state organizations, and social service agencies.
Represent the organization at community forums, professional networks, and conferences.
Required Qualifications:
Degree: Advanced degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
Licensed clinical professional (Psychologist, LISW, LPCC, IMFT).
Trained in an evidence-based trauma treatment/intervention model.
At least five years of work experience in behavioral health, developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral analysis services.
Minimum of four years of supervisory and management experience in the human service industry.
Working knowledge of federal and state regulations for behavioral health services.
Experience with compliance and quality initiatives.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
10 or more years of experience in the field of behavioral health and/or developmental disabilities.
Experience working in or supervising residential treatment services.
Licensed clinical professional with supervisory credentials (Psychologist, LISW-S, LPCC-S).
Knowledge of PRTF rules, regulations, and reporting.
5 or more years of experience which includes responsibility for the following functions: personnel matters, supervision of employees, program services, regulatory compliance, and financial management.Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for supervising and managing the clinical management and clinical staff in the assigned programs. As the program grows and evolves, the titles and number of people directly reporting to this role may change.Work Environment
This is a hybrid role that requires regular program site visits, and office and community-based meetings on a regular basis. The position is expected to be on-site/in person at least 50-75% of the time. This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position working at least 40 hours per week. Hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Given the nature of residential services, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.Travel
Travel throughout Ohio will be required to support assigned programs. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected on occasion.
