Entry-Level Service Technician

Job Description

We're looking to hire a qualified candidate who wants to start a career in the chimney and fireplace service industry. You'll work as a technician and a salesperson to work alongside upper management and learn all the tools of the trade. We're looking for someone honest, dependable, and ready for a career, not just another job.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate, detailed estimates based on customer requirements.

Assist in cleaning and maintaining chimneys, flues, and venting systems.

Perform inspections to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards.

Analyze costs, materials, and labor to ensure estimates align with the customer’s budget.

Maintain effective communication with clients, the Operations Director, and office staff, providing clear updates on project progress.

Conduct chimney and fireplace inspections and recommend solutions to clients.

Follow up with customers throughout the process, offering guidance and support.

Assist in sweeping and servicing wood and gas hearth appliances.

Build strong relationships with customers to promote services and secure future sales.

Maintain company vehicles and tools.

Follow all OSHA and company safety standards and procedures.

Maintain working knowledge of all fireplaces, stoves, and related products along with any manufacturer's changes.

Ability to manipulate and safely use all required equipment and PPE.

Practice the "5 S Principles": Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Customer service and/or sales experience in a trade-focused industry preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Familiarity with construction or chimney and fireplace industry experience is a plus.

• High School Diploma or GED required, some college or college degree is preferred but not required.

• Strong sense of professionalism, honesty, and discretion.

• Ability to diplomatically navigate demanding situations and requests.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly be walking and standing on their feet. The employee will frequently be required to reach, handle (hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand or hands), finger (picking, pinching, fine manipulation). The employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, climb stairs, push, and pull. The employee will occasionally be required to lift and/or move 75+ pounds.

Work Environment: This position is conducted in both interior and exterior settings. The ability to withstand prolonged exposure to varied outside temperatures and inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time is required. This position requires employees to work at heights on top of roofs of various stories.
