Job Description

Role: Senior Technical Writer

Location: Austin, TX 78752

Duration: 3 Months (with a possible extension)

Summary:

Develops and maintains user and technical documentation and project process documentation for Information Technology Teams. Understands the user’s view of applications and/or technology and is able to put procedures in a logical sequence. Provides expertise on technical concepts of applications and /or user groups and structuring procedures in a logical sequence, due to a broad understanding of the applications. Writes a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses. May be responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document.

Performs highly advanced (senior-level) technical writing work coordinating the composition, organization, and editing of compiled information. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may independently perform the most complex technical writing work and may prepare and refine material for speeches and public presentations.

Aid IT in documenting the environment, policies, procedures, and plans of the IT Division. Work involves conducting detailed analysis of and extensive research on data, providing results, and monitoring and implementing data quality. Develop and implement customer-centric metrics and reporting. Support performance, quality, and improvement efforts to help streamline processes through data analysis and visualization. Manage the analysis of data and embrace evaluative thinking that includes posing thoughtful questions about data, getting feedback from key stakeholders, and using data to support staff, programs, and operations.

Required Skills:

8 Years of Required Experience in composing, reviewing, and editing technical documents, policy manuals, procedural documents, operational guidelines, materials, and reports.

8 Years of Required Previous experience researching, developing, and disseminating information on techniques for organizing and presenting policy, procedure and technical information.

8 Years of Required Ability to consult with technical staff in the development of documentation, policy and procedural material.

6 Years of Required Previous experience preparing responses to correspondence, reports, surveys, questionnaires, and other requests for information

6 Years of Required Experience creating and presenting policy and procedure updates, reports, options and feedback to upper management and C Level stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

5 Years of Preferred Previous technology writing experience in the public sector

5 Years of Preferred Knowledge of IT policies and procedures

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Process Management Knowledge of Six Sigma process methodologies; familiar with Information Technology Information Library methodologies.

2. Interpersonal Skills Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.

3. Organizational and Prioritization Skills Must be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment; able to meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, timeliness or professionalism.

4. Presentation/Communication Skills Must be able to construct and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations to a variety of audiences and/or individuals.

5. Research and Comprehension Must demonstrate ability to quickly and efficiently access relevant information and be able to utilize and/or present research and conclusions in a clear and concise manner.

6. Analytical Reasoning/Attention to Detail Committed to documents with 100% quality in spelling, grammar, formatting, and content. Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able identify trends, relationships and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems.

7. Technology (computers/hardware/software/operating systems) Must possess appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

8. Confidentiality and Protected Information Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information.

9. Safety Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices.Company Description
