Job Description

The Director of Business Portfolio and Solution Architecture is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to Prime’s business portfolio architecture and solution architecture practices, services, processes and teams. Prime’s business portfolio architecture is comprised of business and enterprise architects that support Prime’s market segments, products, business capabilities and the resulting portfolio of technology solutions. Business portfolio architecture defines and manages the people, process, information, and technology impacts required to realize the corporate strategy. Solution architecture defines the solution product architecture and project start architecture required to realize a specific set of business requirements and outcomes. This role will lead business portfolio and solution architecture services that help to shape the enterprise transformation roadmap, plan and prioritize investments, guide product and solution decisions, and maximize cross-portfolio synergies. The role is responsible for participating as a member of the IT management team in the overall planning of Information Technology strategy, programs, projects and service improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Set business portfolio and solution architecture practice vision and direction in coordination with business and IT partners; motivate and manage staff to achieve agreed upon results; deliver program/project value within set parameters and timelines

Lead the business portfolio and solution architecture teams in the management of project delivery, resource planning and sourcing, employee development, and budget management

Lead business and solution architecture practice in the management, evangelizing and definition of enduring architecture planning deliverables, blueprints, roadmaps and solution approaches that improve the coordination and delivery of business outcomes

Improve and support the use of Prime’s block operating model, architecture practices, processes, tools, and methodologies and ensure seamless integration with other practices and Prime’s Enterprise Project Lifecycle.

Prepare department plans, focus departmental priorities, and resolve issues of conflicting priorities

Accountable for the successful delivery of assigned services, projects and maintenance efforts across IT and business functions, incorporating Prime’s best practices and compliance with company standards and industry regulations, maintaining compliance with and adhering to security policies and best practices

Coordinate and manage team workload, staffing requirements, and project assignment roles of resources, provide tools, professional development opportunities, and environment needed for staff to be effective and productive, and to develop and communicate employee performance objectives and coaching

Develop business portfolio and solution architecture strategies to support long-term growth and sustainability, leveraging company strategy as well as industry trends and best practices

Establish and maintain positive relationships with key enterprise counterparts to ensure organization understands business priorities and is meeting business needs

Enable continuous improvement of architecture practices and processes by championing community of practices forums and collaboration opportunities

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

8 years of relevant work experience in wide range of IT-related roles with exposure to variety of technologies and applications

5 years of people management experience

Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex material to audiences in plain language

Excellent problem solving and business analysis skills

Ability to multi-task, manage projects, set time frames, and meet deadlines

Ability to work as team player, comfortable with fast paced, changing environment and ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise, business and solution architecture practice development and management

Prior experience as an Enterprise Architect, Business Architect, or Solution Architect

Experience leading teams of architects

Experience managing Enterprise Architecture tools and solutions

Experience in defining, organizing, and applying Enterprise Architecture processes and procedures.

Experience with industry standard EA frameworks such as TOGAF

PBM / healthcare / regulated market company experience

Previous experience interfacing with executive level of leadership

Knowledge and experience working with large systems integrators

Previous experience working an in Agile/Product Delivery model

Advanced degree or certifications

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must be able to “move or traverse”

Must be able to constantly operate a computer and/or other office productivity equipment.

Must be able to hear and constantly communicate information and ideas. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Ability to travel up to 5% of time

Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Potential pay for this position ranges from $143,000.00 - $243,000.00 based on experience and skills.
