Job Description

The primary goal of all Ultrasound Technologist is to provide prompt, courteous, and quality care to every patient requiring our services, keeping foremost in mind to preserve the patient’s dignity and rights to confidentiality.

Full Time/Benefits Eligible

Monday at Westerville Radiology

Wednesday and Friday at Olentangy Radiology

8am-6pm (10 hours/shift) or 8am-8pm (12 hours/shift)

Westerville and Columbus, OH

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Image patients according to protocols and parameters set forth by department policy or by a Radiologist.

Responsible for explaining procedures to the patients and answering questions as needed.

Archive patient exams on PACS system.

Troubleshoot minor problems that arise with the US unit and the PACS system. Seek assistance from appropriate service personnel when necessary.

Stay current on new protocols, software changes, policies and procedures, and quality assurance requirements.

Maintain a clean and workable working environment at all times. Assure ample stock of linen, processor supplies and professional supplies.

Inform patients of delays or equipment repairs that cause excess waiting for the patient. Assist in transporting patients to restroom, patient’s car, or another department whenever necessary.

Assist Receptionists and Physicians in finding appropriate time slots for routine patients. Act as a backup for team members who are out of the office, both planned and unplanned.

Participate in continuing education applicable to the field and/or self-improvement. Attend and participate in staff meetings and other miscellaneous mandatory meetings.

Assist in training new technologists hired by the center.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: ARDMS registered

Education, Licensures & Certifications

Required: Completion of course in ultrasound technology and registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

Required: Current certification as required by law

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently input area for imaging

Knowledge of equipment, testing, safety, body mechanics, and patient movement

knowledge of department computer and phone systems

Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public

Ability to assist patients on and off exam tables

Ability to work on a team and display a positive attitude

Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing

Excellent relationship building skills
