The Department of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division is hiring for a Lead Plumber in Honolulu. Under the general supervision and direction of the Plumbing Supervisor, the Lead Plumber supervises and participates in a variety of plumbing work pertaining to installation, maintenance and repair of fire protection systems, irrigation systems, gas, water, sewer and drainage systems, mains, lines and connections involving public buildings, related structures and appurtenances that are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Facility Maintenance.
Special Work Requirements: This position serves as a Disaster Response Worker and sometimes requires working beyond the normal workday, on weekends, as necessary, to meet schedules and deadlines. May be called to work while on off-duty status to respond to laborer emergencies. Employee shall provide a valid after-hours contact number. This position is required to have unescorted access to the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC) and the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Headquarters and any police station. Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment related to the JTMC requires a fingerprint-based national criminal history record check prior to assignment to this position authorized by HRS846-2.7 (b)(37) and in accordance with JTMC Policy No. 2016-B.06, Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and CHRC Clearance. A separate background check is required for HPD.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show demonstrated competence in performing the journey level duties of a plumber.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:
Journey Level Plumber Certificate of Registration;
Valid driver's license (Type 3/automobile);
Valid Forklift Certification, prior to completion of probation.Any required licenses and certificates must be obtained by the time indicated above, and maintained throughout the course of employment in the position.

EMPLOYMENT SUITABILITY:
To determine the selectee's employment suitability for the position of Lead Plumber, the Department of Human Resources will review criminal convictions, dismissals from employment, and separations from military service under other than honorable convictions.
FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENT: This position will be assigned to service the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment within the JTMC requires a fingerprint-based criminal history record check. Therefore, the selectee will be required to be fingerprinted as part of their employment suitability review. The Department of Human Resources will review fingerprint-based state and national criminal history record information from the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
