POSITION OVERVIEW
Our Vernon Plant Engineer (internally called a Facility Engineer) is responsible for providing the technical expertise and technical leadership to deliver results for the plant and the businesses it supports. The FE is responsible for the site capital investment plans and has accountability for Maintenance. This role will provide critical technical leadership for major capital projects and ensure active platform teams have solutions needed to drive safety, quality and performance plans. Floor visibility is important as well as the ability to connect with people on the production team.
This role reports directly to the site Plant Manager and has a dotted line functional engineering accountability to Central Engineering at world headquarters.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership
Develop a site strategic plan encompassing technical staff development, capital investment, general competencies, and system/technology improvements
Coach, mentor, and develop plant technical resources
Manage external technical relationships with contractors and vendors
Serve as an integral member of the senior plant leadership team, driving plant strategy and culture
Provide technical leadership and ensure site compliance with EPA and OSHA requirements, collaborating with designated functional experts
Provide site leadership to maximize/optimize capital assets and site utilization
Ensure compliance with GMI Financial Policies & Procedures
Understand infrastructure, utility, and facility capacity limitations
Capital Planning & Execution
Develop short- and long-term capital investment plans for the facility and be accountable for the planning and execution of all projects
Oversee the site's capital investment process (standards, project management, capital approval, etc.)
Manage site cash flow and meet Global Engineering expectations
Steward GMI capital, ensuring the investment strategy aligns with business needs and mitigates plant risks
Vertical Start-Up/Continuous Improvement/Manufacturing Excellence
Develop and support strategies integrating Vertical Start-Up (VSU), Continuous Improvement, and Manufacturing Excellence methodologies into the Master Plan
Provide site leadership for technical solutions to operational problems (systems optimization, debottlenecking, troubleshooting)
Be accountable for the strategy, design, and implementation of control systems and manufacturing information systems
Maintenance & Reliability
Coach and develop the sites maintenance staff. Provide strategic support for maintenance programs, including tool and resource development, personnel selection, training, and development
Ensure that budget management and HMM targets align with site goals
Early Career Development
Support Early Career Development, ensuring the needs of new program members are met
Human and Food Safety
Contribute to a safety culture that strives for zero injuries by proactively identifying and addressing physical/environmental/behavioral issues
Ensure existing and new equipment and infrastructure meets applicable codes and GMI Global CIS Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related field with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience
5+ years of technical experience in project engineering, systems or process engineering, facilities management, or a technical discipline in a manufacturing environment, including maintenance experience
Strong track record of engineering aptitude, application of engineering principles, and problem-solving skills
Strong leadership skills, including experience leading others in projects or programs
Develop and manage maintenance budget including storeroom parts and capital investments, including annual purchasing orders, purchase requisitions
Understanding of and experience interacting with multiple business functions (Quality Control, Purchasing, Distribution, Human Resources, Finance, and especially Operations)
Ability to identify potential business solutions using broad, cross-functional thinking to foster innovation
Ability to lead and motivate personnel related to your team and beyond
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Milling, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
Experience directly leading maintenance teams
Experience leading contractors and vendors in executing investment plans
Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, TPM, Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Excellence, Lean Manufacturing)
Practical knowledge of Maximo and SAP
Understanding of maintenance and reliability performance metrics

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $91900.00 - $138000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
