Job Description

Position Purpose

Assists the Plant Manager in the managing of all activates related to the manufacturing process as assigned by the Business Unit Leader. To ensure all people and food safety policies, procedures and programs are communicated and adhered to at all stages of the manufacturing process. To provide guidance and direction to the production team helping ensure production standards, efficiencies, and schedule attainment are met and/or exceeded. Provides leadership and guidance to members of the manufacturing team. To serve as a champion for Summit Hill Foods HPWP philosophy.

Position Responsibilities & Duties

A. Serves as a hands-on leader in production operations by communicating, monitoring and participating in all production related activities as assigned by the Business Unit Leader.

Assists Scheduler and Plant Manager in coordination of production schedules

Participates in and sometimes conducts regularly scheduled Safety, production, quality, and cost meeting with subordinates

Assists the Plant Manager in determining staffing needs and position movement

Actively participates in providing employee training and monitoring its effectiveness

Serves as a role model for Safety and Quality

Assists and directs the daily positioning and assignments of production personnel

Serves as a primary resource for identifying and resolving production issues utilizing employee feedback and involvement

B. Facilitates Production Activities through effective planning, organizing, monitoring, training and communication.

Provides daily communication to production employees to relay pertinent business information as well as advising, coaching, and assisting in problem solving

Monitors work in progress for efficiency and quality as well as providing feedback directed at employee development

Participating in regularly scheduled meetings with the Plant Manager and other Department Heads as required

Assists in determining and implementing department goals and objectives

Assists in determining departmental training needs and provides training as determined

Provides positive reinforcement and constructive feedback

Encourages and models a Team approach

Promotes and utilizes employee involvement and empowerment

C. Assists the Plant Manager in developing and implementing continuous improvements plans and projects.

Reviews and analyzes current production procedures and methods

Seeks out opportunities and offers suggestions for alternative methods and procedures

Plans Team production employee schedules and priorities as directed by the Plant Manager

D. Responsible for gathering and analyzing production data on a daily basis with guidance provided by the Plant Manager.

Serves as a resource for identifying and resolving production opportunities utilizing employee feedback and involvement

Verifies the accurate completion of daily production efficiency and cost reports

Reviews the accurate completion and submission of all SQF and TW daily records

Analyzes efficiencies, HRD’s and costs

Actively participates with the Plant Manager in determining line efficiencies, staffing to standards, and material costing of new products

Actively participates in Inventory Control and inventory accuracy to include cycle count reviews as well as material and packaging variances.

Essential Skills

This position requires refined people management, planning, organizing, analytical, budgetary, communication, problem solving and team building skills. Familiarity with standard & company specific software programs along with mathematical skills are required.

Related Experience: Three years serving in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment with a proven record of accomplishment.

Educational Level: A.S or B.A degree in a business-related field preferred. Two years of proven leadership experience in a food related manufacturing environment may be substituted for a portion of the four-year degree.

Licenses/Certifications: None

Expertise Level: Excellent communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills math skills, attention to detail, analyzing, and troubleshooting are essential to this position.

2nd shift schedule with weekends as required
