About the Job
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Equipment Engineer - CMP (Chemical Mechanical planarization) (m/f/d) to join the Semiconductor FAB team at our partner company. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the selection, installation, and optimization of CMP tools to support the ramp-up of cleanroom production at a state-of-the-art fabrication facility.
As part of the team building Black FabONE, you’ll play a central role in establishing core manufacturing capabilities, improving yield and reliability, and shaping the future of semiconductor production. You’ll work cross-functionally with design, facilities, and process teams to deliver CMP equipment solutions that meet cutting-edge technology demands.
Join our partner company: A German hardware startup focused on designing and manufacturing groundbreaking microchips. The company develops energy-efficient, high-performance components with the potential to redefine global semiconductor connectivity through graphene photonics.
In this role, you’ll:
Lead the CMP equipment track during facility construction and ramp-up
Define tool layout, cleanroom integration, and infrastructure requirements in collaboration with design and facilities teams (e.g., chemical delivery, exhaust systems, water supply)
Drive the technical evaluation, selection, and procurement of CMP tools together with process engineering and vendors
Oversee the entire installation lifecycle, from delivery and utility hookup to acceptance and qualification
Create and execute preventive maintenance plans and develop detailed equipment documentation
Support yield improvement and process integration through tool optimization and root cause analysis
Ensure infrastructure readiness including slurry delivery systems, filtration units, and waste/sludge management
Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and performance
Your Profile
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
5+ years of hands-on experience with CMP equipment in a semiconductor fab environment
Proven track record in tool installation and fab ramp-up or expansion projects
Deep technical expertise in CMP process parameters such as planarization control, slurry/pad management, and conditioning systems
Experience with CMP-related infrastructure (e.g., slurry delivery, filtration, and waste handling)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
Fluency in English (written and spoken). German is a plus
