Fairmount Cemetery is a non-profit company that also owns Riverside Cemetery. Riverside was established in 1876, while Fairmount was established in 1890.

Being a non-profit, all employees are considered as part of the Fairmount Family, playing an important role maintaining our mission statement of providing preeminent resources to celebrate life.

This is a new role for Riverside Cemetery that includes high-level planning of improvements and perpetual care as well as cemetery operations oversite. Through collaborations with the Vice President of Fairmount Cemetery, this position will conduct research and cost analysis while creating a turf transformation project, evaluating the lack of irrigation and solutions needed to improve the landscape and oversee implementation.

A full-time, exempt position with an annual salary of $60,000 - $75,000, with a 40-hour work week. Typically, Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm at Riverside Cemetery. Hours may be adjusted to fulfill project demands when communicated with the Vice President.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Participates in the hiring and training of all grounds crew.

Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of interments.

Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy

Assist in employee appraisals, promotions, compensation and termination.

Essential Functions

Directs and participates in the verification of all burials, receives and processes burial permits, research old burial records, checks lots and gives grave locations.

Coordinates the completion of interment and work orders.

Performs administrative duties including the preparation and administration of the cemetery’s budget, records, work orders, purchasing and inventory.

Coordinates the receiving and placement of foundations, markers and monuments.

Plans, organizes and directs the operation and maintenance of cemetery grounds.

Addresses customer concerns in a timely manner.

Direct and oversees grounds crew assigned to cemetery duties.

Oversee the safety of assigned ground crew by instructing individuals in proper safety procedures and monitoring work in progress.

Provides recommendations regarding equipment purchases and requests for all supplies and materials needed for effective cemetery operation.

Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools.

Operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the cemetery as required.

Maintains cemetery grounds; repairs graves that have settled and organizes snow and ice removal.

Knowledge of operation and use of motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, tamper, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, trencher, common hand and power tools.

Controlling Machines and Processes – Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.

Job Requirements:

High School diploma/Equivalent

7+ years of experience in a similar industry.

Bilingual Spanish and English speaking preferred.

Able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.Fairmount Benefits:
