Primary Purpose:

The Principal Engineer develops and leads studies, plans, specifications, evaluations, and design documents related to the planning, design, and operation of Exelon's energy facilities and systems. This role involves providing consultation and recommendations based on thorough analysis of company or customer systems, processes, and equipment. Additionally, you will review financial data of projects to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Consult on highly complex technical areas and provide training on advanced engineering principles.

Evaluate intricate technical issues requiring specialized knowledge and recommend effective solutions.

Lead significant technical projects and teams to develop studies, proposals, and designs.

Engage with technical and industry societies to stay updated on new technologies.

Participate in department planning through field/site walkthroughs, meetings, and performance monitoring.

Act as an expert witness in regulatory or legal proceedings.

Serve as a subject matter expert in Transmission Underground Design.

Provide mentorship, technical training, and peer reviews for team members.

Job Scope:

Influential in strategic management decisions affecting the organization.

Support and lead the efforts to energize utility and customer systems.

Set the technical direction for the organization on key issues.

Contribute technical expertise to enhance safety and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.

Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.

Proficiency in applying problem-solving approaches and engineering theory.

Advanced knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in specific engineering areas or recognized industry expert status (reduced by one year for Licensed Professional Engineer).

Expertise in regulations, standards, codes, and advanced engineering principles.

Active participation in industry committees or publication of technical documents.

Licensure must be valid in the state of practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills for effective communication at all management levels.

Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

Demonstrated leadership in managing the work of others.

Experience in OH/UG Transmission Line design and practices.

Benefits:

Annual salary range: $120,000.00 - $165,000.00 based on qualifications and experience.

Annual bonus for eligible positions: 20%.
