Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer - Serialization
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will drive the implementation and expansion of Product Serialization technologies across Amgen’s global network of manufacturing sites, including at our new advanced Final Drug Product Packaging plant in Columbus Ohio where you will be based. You will collaborate closely with Architects, Development Teams, Business Owners, Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders to deliver and maintain high-quality, high-value, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
Define and maintain the platform roadmap for Product Serialization and Label Print and Inspection Systems
Lead selected efforts to design, build, and develop rapid Proof-of-Concept (POC) Product Serialization, Print & Inspect solutions and services. Quickly and iteratively prove or disprove the concepts being considered.
Work with process subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand key process requirements and transform them into digital automated solutions
Lead development on high profile and complex projects to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects by working closely with cross-functional team members
Collaborate with business partners to understand how automation can improve quality and efficiency
Synthesize requirements from clients, customers or end-users to develop the best automation solutions
Own and manage the global product label template library
Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, including those in the US and other international locations.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Identify and manage risks associated with the systems, including technological risks, scientific validation, and user acceptance
Develop documentation, communication plans and training plans for end users
Ensure operational excellence, cybersecurity and compliance.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 8 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmacology/Information Systems experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong technical experience in Serialized Product Tracking and Automated Packaging Solutions
Process Automation and Engineering experience delivering value
Strong customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, stakeholders and management.
Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and technologies, work cross-functionally in teams (internal and external)
Functional Skills:
Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex challenges in manufacturing with technology
Understanding of manufacturing technologies, systems, data and integrations.
Collaborative spirit and effective communication skills to work seamlessly in a cross-functional team
An ongoing commitment to learning and staying at the forefront of technology, digital and AI advancements.
Experience creating impactful slide decks and communicating data
Good-to-Have Skills:
Experience in and certifications for Serialized Product Tracking software applications (e.g., Systech)
Experience and understanding of industrial cameras and machine vision technologies
Experience with stakeholder management, managing a team, ensuring seamless coordination across teams and driving the successful delivery of technical projects
Familiarity with databases and programming languages like SQL, Python.
Ability to drive projects/company initiatives using Agile methodology

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
