About the program
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
AIR6500 activities also encompasses furthering emerging opportunities within the ADF Integrated Air Missiles and Defence (IAMD) system of systems, by fostering collaboration between Defence, industry and academia through the LM National IAMD Ecosystem.
Your responsibilities will include:
The AIR6500 Software Engineering Lead Team is a two person team, with one role for a US-defence experienced person and one for an Australian-defence experienced person. The US-defenced experienced person is currently physically in our Mawson Lakes office and the intention is to undertake knowledge continuity and transfer to the AU-defenced experienced person for strong In-country software engineering leadership going forward.
In this role, responsibilities will include;
Leadership of all software activities for AIR6500, both software-system integration activities in the Systems Team and software process activities within and across AIR6500 product teams
Definition and governance of contemporary software process, tools and training implemented through an Agile delivery approach
Engagement with software capability Third Party suppliers to capture and integrate their capability into AIR6500 capability streams
Attainment of key AIR6500 performance outcomes associated with software quality, assurance and deliverables.
Leadership of industry and customer collaboration, definition and estimation of software scope for future activities of AIR6500
About you:
To be successful in the role you will have a passion for creating solutions to complex problems from the ground up, for being agile in a bid teaming environment and for being accountable for estimates, decisions and deliverables. You will also need:
Well-rounded experience leading successful software outcomes in a large, agile delivery team
Impressive experience working and leading both execution and bid processes and deliverablesExcellent ability to apply experiential judgement and lateral approaches to complex problem solving
Special Requirements:
Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and hold a current or re-instatable NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
