Communication Technology Systems Administrator
The Communication Technology Systems Administrator supports primarily our Shoreview and Anoka locations and is responsible for ensuring that all communication and technology processes are in place to support the safety of patients and crews during air medical transports. The Communication Technology Systems Administrator ensures the functionality and maintenance of communication systems and other critical infrastructure, including dispatch software, communication equipment, tracking systems, and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) platforms. The position works closely with technical teams and vendors to troubleshoot and implement solutions, while contributing to the optimization of resources. This hybrid position reports to the Director of Technology Operations and is based at our Shoreview, MN administrative offices, with travel to other bases as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Technology Support and Maintenance
Ensures all communication technology is functioning correctly and efficiently, including dispatch software, communication equipment such as radios, phones, tracking systems (GPS), PTT
Responds promptly to technical issues and diagnoses root causes
Escalates complex or high-impact issues to vendors or the Director of Technology Operations
Plans, tests, and implements software updates, upgrades, and security for critical systems with minimal disruption to operations
Schedules and performs preventative maintenance on equipment
Provides technical assistance and guidance, including troubleshooting user-level issues and assisting with system navigation
Maintains accurate configuration records, network diagrams, and inventory of all supported technologies
Documents all system changes, and support resolutions for tracking and auditing purposes
Participates in the development, testing, and execution of disaster recovery and backup procedures for critical technology systems
Vendor Relationship Management
Builds and maintains relationships with vendors to ensure the timely delivery of services and products
Serves as the primary point of contact for communication systems vendors and service providers
Ensures vendors follow applicable compliance standards, including HIPAA and other regulations
Provides clear and timely updates to leadership and stakeholders on vendor-related activities and statuses
Interdepartmental Collaboration
Works collaboratively with IT team members and department leaders to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Participates in interdepartmental meetings and contributes to the planning and execution of new technology initiatives
Contributes to interdepartmental teams to improve system optimization

Minimum Requirements:
Three years of experience supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting communication systems such as radio dispatch, 911 infrastructure, and GPS tracking
Trained and/or certified to configure and maintain Computer Aided Dispatch systems and related software
Working knowledge of Information Technologies and Networking Systems
Familiarity with systems integration and user support in a mission-critical, 24/7 environment
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for documentation and end-user interaction
A valid driver’s license and ability to drive to Life Link III bases
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a closely related field
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or related field
3-5 years of experience supporting technology systems in a public safety communication environment
Previous experience working with vendors and contractors for system upgrades, implementation, and ongoing support
Experience in managing software programs
Experience with specific software platforms such as Flight Vector or other CAD platforms, FV Ops, Complete Flight, or other flight operations platforms
Experience with Avtech, Emergency Response Platforms, emergency/public safety communications, voice logging/recording and radio consoles
