Pre-Employment Requirements and/or Preferences
This position requires strong customer service skills, strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to learn quickly, calm under pressure.
Experience supporting Windows 10/11 in a networked environment, and experience supporting common software applications like MS Office.
Experience with conference room AV tech is highly desirable.
Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required.
Expected to work approximately 20 hours per week, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check prior to hire.
Job Duties and Requirements
EXAMPLES OF TASKS: (Position may not include all of the tasks listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in this position)
Assemble, configure, and deploy personal computers and peripherals. Prepare non-functioning or decommissioned computers for disposal.
Ship and receive computer equipment.
Enter and maintain current, accurate inventory data.
Respond to calls for service.
Track and document requests and issues in service database.
Assist or train individual users in the use of software applications.
Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repair on computer, peripheral, and network equipment to provide stable, available computer systems to end users.
Diagnose and resolve basic hardware or software problems. Refer complex problems to second-level support staff for resolution.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical knowledge of personal computer hardware and software including operating system and common commercial application software (Networking, Microsoft Office etc.).
Basic understanding of layer 1 through 3 computer networking technology such as Ethernet and TCP/IP.
Basic understanding of network and data security concepts and techniques such as authentication and encryption.
Follows county security policy and procedures.
Ability to understand and quickly learn technical concepts and maintain current knowledge of a limited set of personal computer hardware and software.
Ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information to other employees, both orally and in writing.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, vendors, public officials, the general public, and representatives of other agencies.
Works independently and is able to manage work assignments with little or no supervision
Follow established policies and procedures.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. One year of related work experience or course work.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office environment while frequently sitting at a computer terminal. Some eye strain from viewing a computer terminal may occur. Physical effort may be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. May require work outside regular business hours.
