Low Voltage Technician

Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Technician with experience in building out data closets and structured cabling systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, terminating, and testing low voltage cabling, as well as organizing and configurating data racks, patch panels, and network equipment in compliance with infdustry standards.

Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and test CAT 5, CAT 6, fiber optic, and other low voltage cabling.

Build out and organize data closets, including mounting racks, patch panels, cable management, and labeling.

Install and configure network equipment such as switches, routers, and UPS systems as required.

Ensure all work meets industry standards and customer specifications.

Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on structured cabling systems.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.

Work closely with electricians, and IT staff to ensure timely project completion.

Adhere to safety regulations and company policies.

Experience

Proven experience in building out data closets and structured cabling.

Proficiency in terminating and testing copper and fiber cabling.

Previous experience in a data center environment or similar role is required.

Familiarity with network installation practices and protocols.

Knowledge of Avaya systems is a plus.

Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.

Experience working with LAN technologies and low voltage cabling is advantageous.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
