Position SummaryThe Pingry School seeks a dedicated Learning Specialist to support our Middle School. This role is covering as a Leave Replacement from the start of school through April 15, 2026. Reporting to the Academic Support Manager and collaborating with the Counseling and Academic Support Team (CAST), the Middle School Learning Specialist will provide support for identified students. The Learning Specialist will be student-facing, facilitating small group and one-on-one sessions, and will oversee the Conference Period (CP) study hall. The ideal candidate will have an insightful understanding of effective teaching methods for different learning styles and aptitudes, excellent listening and observational skills, a background in teaching executive functioning skills, as well as an empathic mindset. Responsibilities

Providing 1:1 and small group instruction for Middle School students to support their approach to learning, their development of effective learning habits and strategies as well as their executive functioning. Facilitating Conference Period study hall with Middle School students needing support and structure.

Collaborating with the Academic Support Manager to review evaluations and create Official Accommodations Plans as appropriate.

Supporting teachers in understanding and supporting students' learning profiles and needs, including any academic accommodations based on the student's Official Accommodation Plan.

Collaborating with and supporting Middle School faculty by offering resources, assistance, advice, and training, thus enabling them to best meet the needs of all learners.

Assuming an active role in student support team meetings and regularly reporting on student achievement and progress.

Evaluating the effectiveness of accommodations and recommended strategies.

Meeting with individual parents/guardians, as necessary, to discuss their student's progress..

Providing parents/guardians with guidance and referrals as needed for academic support and learning assessments. Maintaining student records relating to learning support.Bringing a compassionate and holistic approach to collaborating with students, families, providers, and colleagues to support the education of all types of learners.

Interpreting evaluations, writing learning profiles, and overseeing the implementation of recommendations and accommodations for students with a documented learning difference.

Assist with planning and parent/student communication for CTP testing for students with an accommodation plan. Qualifications

A master's degree specific to the field of education or special education is required.

Experience in a small group or one-on-one executive functioning skill instruction. required, such as direct experience as a Learning Specialist or Special Education Teacher

Minimum of 1 to 3 years of related experience working with students with diverse learning needs.

Experience with and enthusiasm for working with Middle School students and understanding of their developmental milestones.

Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students

Robust interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented employees

Comfortable with incorporating the latest technology into your workflow, including Schoology and Zoom

Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.)

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Experience creating, supporting, and sustaining a culture of access and equity in a school environment.
