Director Of Operations

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Director of Operations will oversee and manage the daily operations of two contract machining facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Director of Operations will work closely with senior management to align operational strategies with business goals and ensure customer satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operational Management:
Oversee the daily operations of both machining facilities, ensuring production schedules are met.
Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and productivity to meet CI goals.
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and quality.
Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Overall Operations Effectiveness (OOE) to maximize productivity and equipment utilization. Quality Assurance:
Ensure all products meet or exceed customer specifications and industry standards.
Implement quality control processes and conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement.
Address and resolve any quality issues promptly. Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers and supervisors across both locations.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
Engage in employee hiring, retention, wage review and assisting in the development of incentives that align to performance goals. Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and other best practices.
Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
Utilize OEE and OOE metrics to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Financial Management:
Develop and manage the operational budget for both facilities.
Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures.
Identify opportunities for capacity expansion and prepare Return-On-Investment (ROI) analysis to justify capital expenditures.
Prepare financial reports and present them to senior management. Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular safety training sessions.
Address any safety concerns or incidents promptly. REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in the machining industry is highly desirable.
Ability to speak, read, write, address groups and individuals, conduct investigations, counsel, train, and mentor in English.

Experience with OEE and OOE metrics and improvement strategies. Working Conditions:
Environment: The role involves working in both office and manufacturing environments. The Director of Operations will spend time on the production floor, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Physical Demands: The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move around the facilities for extended periods. Occasional lifting of materials and equipment may be required.
