The Position: Technical Manager - This position is responsible for the maintenance, reliability, technical inspection, engineering and CAPEX management for the INEOS Styrolution Channahon site. As a member of the Site Manufacturing Leadership Team, you will provide direction and leadership to the technical department-overseeing SHE, reliability, quality of services, cost management, and people development.
What you will do:
Safety & SHE Leadership
Champion the 20 Principles of Behavioral and Process Safety and embed them into daily activities.
Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Ensure Mechanical Integrity and Protective System inspections are completed on schedule and gaps are closed.
Validate PSM, MOC, and PHA processes are initiated and executed appropriately. Team Leadership & Development
Supervise ~7 direct and >25 indirect reports, setting clear goals, standards, and career-development plans.
Own development and delivery of technical training programs-including internships-for mechanical and IE disciplines.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, trust, and excellence across your team. Maintenance & Reliability Management
Drive world-class reliability: manage maintenance processes, downtime analysis, and elimination plans.
Lead Reliability Engineering, Equipment End-of-Life strategies, and License-to-Operate programs (inspections, certifications, radiation safety).
Oversee the Asset Management Program and control maintenance fixed costs.
Manage relationships, contracts, and performance of technical contractors and engineering partners. CAPEX Planning & Execution
Own the site's CAPEX plan and budget ($5-$20 M annually).
Lead CAPEX projects to deliver on scope, timeline, and budget, leveraging internal and third-party engineering resources.
Build and maintain platforms to ensure resource readiness for project execution.
Turnaround (TAR) Management- Coordinate all aspects of the site's TAR program-including preparation, execution, and KPI definition.
Define and implement a fit-for-purpose TAR management concept and organizational structure.
Monitor TAR performance ($0.9-$1.5 M annually) and drive continuous improvement. What you will bring:
Level of Education & Knowledge
BS in Engineering (mechanical preferred) plus 10-15 years in chemical or similar process industries, covering engineering, reliability, and maintenance.
Solid understanding of how business requirements translate into technical solutions. Experience in General
Proven track record in a chemical/petrochemical operating plant, with hands-on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation experience.
Demonstrated expertise in reliability-based maintenance techniques and formal problem-solving. Technical Skills
Applied engineering and project management skills: troubleshooting, design, and execution.
Budgeting, cost control, and economic analysis to support business decisions.
Strong SHE leadership and Process Safety management. Competencies & Behavioral Skills

Additionally, employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus as part of their total compensation package. This salary range is an estimate based on factors such as candidate qualifications, operational needs, and business performance metrics. Actual compensation may vary above or below the stated range, as permitted by applicable laws.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At INEOS Styrolution, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are carefully made based on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
