Mission & Vision
Voice of Reason (VoR) is a public interest technology startup working to bring real-time accountability and ethical intelligence to high-stakes public systems—starting with law enforcement.
Our mission is to reduce misconduct, rebuild public trust, and protect lives on both sides of the badge by creating tools that elevate accountability, transparency, and lawful behavior in complex field environments.
This role isn’t for someone chasing a quick exit. It’s for someone who understands the urgency of fixing what’s broken and wants to build something truly foundational—intelligently, ethically, and systemically.
Your Role
As CTO & Cofounder, you’ll own the end-to-end technical strategy and build our early product from the ground up. You’ll shape the architecture, lead development of our MVP, and work closely with the founder on vision, prioritization, and early-stage fundraising.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the MVP alongside the founder using modern, scalable technologies
Design and oversee the systems that power VoR’s real-time intelligence and decision support features
Manage infrastructure, data security, system performance, and scalability
Collaborate with legal and policy experts to ensure platform alignment with nuanced regulatory frameworks
Build and lead a small technical team as we scale
Support strategic planning, pitch materials, and investor conversations
Required Skills & Experience
We’re looking for a visionary technologist who thrives in ambiguity, solves hard problems, and understands what it takes to build durable, responsible technology in sensitive domains.
Must-Haves:
Experience architecting and deploying full-stack systems with AI/ML components
Fluency in modern backend and frontend frameworks (Node.js, React/Next.js, Postgres, etc.)
Familiarity with real-time data processing, privacy-preserving systems, or domain-specific NLP applications
Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and integration with third-party systems
Ability to translate complex legal or policy constraints into technical features
Leadership experience or ambition to grow and manage a technical team
Cultural Fit
We’re a mission-first team. This isn’t a lifestyle startup—it’s a company built to make a measurable difference in how public systems function.
You might be a fit if you are:
Motivated by impact, not hype
Direct, honest, and unafraid to question the status quo
Comfortable building under pressure with incomplete information
Excited by systems-thinking and designing for long-term societal benefit
Grounded in ethical principles when it comes to AI and public use technologies
Commitment to Legacy
This isn’t just a product—it’s an opportunity to change how accountability works at scale. You’ll have meaningful equity and influence over something that could help set new standards nationwide.
Equity & Compensation
Founding equity based on experience, contribution, and risk
No salary until funding—this is a long-term leadership role, not a freelance gig
Milestone-based equity increases as we scale
Application Process
This role is critical to the DNA of the company. We take it seriously. Our process includes:
Values & vision alignment call
Technical deep dive (discussion or build challenge)
Legal/ethical reasoning session (we build tech for sensitive environments)
Founder alignment session to assess chemistry and long-term fit
