SAP Technical Architect

Location & Travel

Primary Location: Flexible within North America; proximity to major airport preferred

Travel: Up to 80% to client sites as needed

Role Overview:

As an SAP Technical Architect at Argano, you will be a key leader in shaping and delivering robust, scalable, and innovative SAP landscapes—anchored in S/4HANA. You will serve as the technical authority across SAP platforms, responsible for designing integrated system architectures, driving SAP modernization efforts, and ensuring successful end-to-end technical execution. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, hands-on delivery capability, and the strategic mindset needed to align technology with business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

SAP Technical Architecture & Strategy:

Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end SAP technical architectures, with a focus on S/4HANA transformations.

Define system landscapes, technical roadmaps, and integration strategies aligned to client business goals and IT standards.

Guide clients on SAP modernization initiatives including system conversions, upgrades, and cloud migrations (e.g., Rise with SAP, Hyperscalers).

Evaluate emerging SAP technologies and recommend solutions to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.

Technical Leadership & Governance:

Provide technical oversight and leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from blueprinting to post-go-live support.

Establish SAP technical standards and ensure architectural consistency across projects.

Partner with functional architects, BASIS teams, security leads, and infrastructure partners to ensure seamless integration and delivery.

Support project planning by estimating technical effort, resources, and risks.

S/4HANA Expertise:

Serve as the technical expert on S/4HANA implementations (greenfield, brownfield, or hybrid), ensuring best practices in system design, data migration, and performance optimization.

Collaborate with business and functional teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions leveraging native S/4HANA capabilities.

Oversee and participate in technical design, development, and deployment activities, including custom development and integration with non-SAP systems.

Integration & System Performance:

Design and manage integrations between SAP and third-party systems using tools such as SAP PI/PO, SAP BTP Integration Suite, and APIs.

Define and implement performance tuning strategies across application and database layers.

Monitor system performance, availability, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues.

Client Engagement & Advisory:

Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance on SAP architecture decisions and future roadmap planning.

Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.

Support pre-sales and proposal development with architecture input, technical scoping, and client presentations.

Requirements:

BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

10+ years of SAP technical experience, with 5+ years in a technical architecture or lead role, and strong hands-on experience with S/4HANA.

Deep knowledge of SAP BASIS, NetWeaver, HANA database architecture, Fiori/UI5, and ABAP development standards.

Experience with system conversions, upgrades, and cloud-hosted SAP deployments.

Strong understanding of SAP BTP, cloud integration, and modern DevOps practices for SAP environments.

Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills, with experience interfacing with technical and business stakeholders.

Ability to lead and mentor technical teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
