Definition
This position is responsible for providing end-user software and hardware technology support for Columbus Public Health, including addressing daily technical user support/issues, managing hardware and software systems, coordinating support with internal and external partners, development of system/user documentation and training, and hardware & software procurement.
This position is a 100% on-site position located at Columbus Public Health, 240 Parsons Ave., Columbus, OH 43215.
Under direction, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining information processing systems; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work

Provides advanced support and maintenance for department directed technology systems which may include servers, applications, workstations, and related hardware and software;
Determines requirements and makes recommendations for new and/or upgraded applications and systems including hardware and software needs, maintenance, and support;
Reviews and analyzes hardware and software alternatives and recommends selections to management;
Designs and supports relational databases to meet data processing needs;
Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and issues; implements changes to automate processing or to improve existing systems, electronic workflows, and reports;
Develops and executes comprehensive testing scenarios for system fixes, data exchanges, and enhancements;
Provides technical support to users regarding department directed applications;
Updates and maintains department-specific websites;
Confers with management and/or designated staff members in the development and implementation of information processing systems;
Installs new software and hardware packages; modifies and adapts software features, structures or options to meet the needs of the department or division;
Writes system documentation, program specifications, and/or production procedures;
Resolves security issues associated with the computer system; maintains data backup and recovery systems;
Maintains day-to-day operation of local area network (LAN) system; provides ongoing system maintenance and evaluation;
Instructs and trains users in operation of and procedures for system; researches technical computer manuals; writes user manuals and instructions;
May participate in professional activities to remain knowledgeable regarding developments in the field of computer information systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree with significant coursework (twenty-one (21) semester or thirty-two (32) quarter hours) in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field; or possession of an associate’s degree AND two (2) years of experience developing, implementing, or maintaining information technology systems. Substitution(s): Additional information technology experience as listed above may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
