Temporary Finance Associate (Hybrid Eligible)

Temporary Assignment, non-benefits eligible, up to 40 hours per week May - August 31, 2025 with possibility of extension.

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience).

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The Finance Associate will be part of the OHS Business Team providing accounting and administrative support in preparation for and during the summer programs. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Outreach Business Operations, this position is responsible for verifying financial transactions, preparing Excel-based financial reports and supporting general administrative operations and summer programming initiatives. The Finance Associate is expected to uphold University policies, federal regulations and department standards. This position is well suited for individuals with strong analytical and organizational skills.

Job Responsibilities:

Process a high volume (125+) of financial transactions for purchases, travel, and reimbursement with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.

Review transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, consistency, timeliness and compliance.

Assist staff with management of purchasing goods and purchase orders, and reconciliation of monthly expenses.

Compile, maintain, and review data reports for accuracy and completeness.

Generate standardized and ad-hoc financial reports.

Maintain desktop procedures and associated departmental files.

Ensure compliance with University policies, federal regulations and requirements.

Uphold department standards pertaining to reports with sensitive data and information.

Process reimbursements and support verification of Travel Card expenses on an as needed basis.

Contribute to general office administration, process improvement and other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

1-3 years of relevant financial experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Ability to ensure compliance with financial and University policies.

Proficiency in financial systems and business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.

In addition, preferred requirements include:

Bachelor’s degree.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Physical Requirements, Working Standards & Conditions:

Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

Frequently sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.

Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.

Rarely writing by hand, use a telephone

Extended hours and weekends.

The expected pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
