The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Owner's Representative MEP Project Engineer with extensive experience in managing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for data center construction projects. As an integral member of our team, you will represent the owner's interests throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that MEP systems are designed, installed, and commissioned to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Project Oversight and Coordination:
Serve as the primary point of contact for the owner/client regarding MEP systems during all phases of the project.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with owner requirements and project goals.
Design and Specification Review:
Review and provide input on MEP design drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure compliance with owner standards and industry best practices.
Participate in design meetings to optimize MEP systems for efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in data center environments.
Contractor Management:
Manage MEP contractors and subcontractors, including bidding processes, contract negotiations, and performance evaluations.
Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to project schedules, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Quality Assurance and Testing:
Develop and implement quality assurance procedures for MEP systems installation, testing, commissioning, and validation.
Conduct inspections and oversee testing processes to verify compliance with design specifications and performance criteria.
Budget and Schedule Management:
Assist in the development and monitoring of MEP project budgets and schedules, ensuring accurate forecasting and cost control measures.
Identify potential risks, delays, and deviations from project plans, and implement proactive measures to mitigate impact.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes, progress reports, change orders, and RFIs (Requests for Information).
Prepare regular status reports for stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, issues, and resolutions related to MEP systems.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
Promote and enforce a culture of safety and adherence to best practices among project team members and subcontractors.
Qualifications:
Experience (2+ years) as a MEP Project Engineer or similar role in data center construction or complex facility projects.
Proven track record of successfully managing MEP systems from design through commissioning.
Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems design, installation, and operational requirements.
Excellent project management skills, including budget management and schedule adherence.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Professional Engineer (PE) license and LEED accreditation (preferred).
