The Pittsburgh Penguins are excited to offer a Hockey Research & Development Software Engineer position. As a full stack developer with the Pittsburgh Penguins, you will be joining a small team in the journey to create best in class data and software platforms, providing information critical to the hockey operations department. Your day-to-day will consist of contributing to our hockey applications and our data warehouse. You will be key part of the evolution of our technology and team culture.

We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about hockey and has a strong desire to contribute to the team. High performers will be intellectual contributors capable of working independently and collaboratively, have an innovative mindset, and want to pursue a career in professional sports and join our mission of winning Stanley Cup championships.

Responsibilities:

Assist in architecting and developing our primary web application using best practices.

Assist in building out our data pipeline to ensure timely and correct information makes its way to hockey operations.

Create visualizations and UI concepts that create clean, usable, responsive interfaces across devices.

Implement standards and testing practice to ensure rigorous code quality.

Help build out GCP cloud computing infrastructure to ensure uptime, reliability, and responsiveness.

Qualifications:

Strong experience in building dynamic web user experiences with Javascript, particularly Vue.js, D3 or Three.js, and any CSS frameworks you like (Ex: Tailwind, Bootstrap, Material).

Strong experience in python in building application middleware, data libraries, and testing frameworks.

Fluency in SQL with a strong preference for working with BigQuery and Postgres.

Familiarity with GCP products including GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Build, or similar knowledge from AWS or Azure.

Strong technical opinions with a deep appreciation for process and diligent code reviews and an eye for flexibility and moving fast.

High standards when it comes to code quality, user interface design, and raising team standards.

Strong personal skills, and a desire to work within a collaborative, responsive team environment.

Extremely excited about hockey and having the impact to see your work used in an effort to win the Stanley Cup.
