Full Time, Salary PositionPurpose

As a Test Support Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting field service operations by analyzing transformer test data, compiling detailed reports for customers, and assisting technicians with troubleshooting and technical support. Your work ensures the quality and reliability of our transformer testing processes and enhances the service experience for both technicians and customers.

Responsibilities & Duties

Analyze test data submitted by field service technicians and provide technical insights.

Assist technicians with troubleshooting when results fall outside acceptable ranges.

Collaborate with Delta Star's internal teams on test result evaluations and customer inquiries.

Prepare project-specific test files and work scopes using customer specifications and drawings.

Collect and organize factory acceptance test data for comparison with field data.

Convert and format test files (DTA to Excel, SFRA/CTs to PDF) for customer-facing reports.

Review lab reports, including DGA and oil test results, ensuring compliance with IEEE standards.

Generate detailed, accurate field service reports based on technician input and test results.

Support project planning efforts and assist in ordering project-related supplies.

Help maintain and calibrate test equipment and oil processors.

Track inventory and maintain stock of daily-use supplies and test kits.

Education & Experience

Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.

5-10 years of experience in transformer and electrical controls testing.

3-5 years of experience with circuit breakers.

5-10 years of transformer assembly experience.

Experience working in substations strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of electrical hazards and safety protocols in substation environments.

Familiarity with test software such as DTA, SFRA, and Omicron.

Able to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.

Working knowledge of transformer operation, LTC mechanics, and protective devices.

Experience with vacuum oil filling processes and oil processors.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Nitro/Adobe.

Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.

A proactive mindset with a positive attitude and a team-first approach.

Other Requirements

Preferred work location is at Delta Star's Field Service headquarters located in Forest, VA
