Description:

THE MISSION

Four Grower’s team is developing and deploying world leading AI and robotics to create a world where delicious, nutritious, sustainable food is accessible for everyone. We are at the forefront of developing next-generation farming technologies that empower farmers to cultivate fresh, high-quality produce locally, at an affordable price, and with minimal environmental impact. If you are a mechanical engineer with a vision for the future of agriculture, we invite you to join us on a mission to transform how we grow and consume fresh produce.

YOUR ROLE

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support the development and deployment of robotic harvesting systems. You'll work alongside our experienced team, gaining hands-on experience and directly contributing to harvesting the produce you see on your grocery store shelves.

Assist an interdisciplinary team in executing product designs from concept to production, including contributing to specifications, design, prototyping, validation, and testing.

Support the development and implementation of assembly verification and system validation tests to help guarantee functionality and durability.

Contribute to writing requirements, functional specifications, and functional test procedures under the guidance of senior engineers.

Learn and participate in various stages of projects, from initial concept and design through manufacturing, testing, and product lifecycle management.

Develop a proactive approach in identifying and helping address engineering challenges, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability for assigned tasks.

Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to help optimize designs for manufacturability, ensuring smooth and efficient production processes.

Gain experience with various manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and additive manufacturing, to contribute to the production efficiency of robotic systems.

Embrace significant hands-on fieldwork with travel to customer sites (both domestic and international) to gather data and conduct field testing.

NEEDED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

0-2 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering (strong academic projects, internships, and co-op experience are highly valued).

A foundational understanding of electro-mechanical design principles, with an interest in structural and thermal analysis.

Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering principles and their application to product design.

Interest in and basic understanding of the selection and integration of components like motors, encoders, and sensors into mechanical systems.

Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software, including assemblies and part design best practices.

Hands-on experience building functional prototypes or proof-of-concept models (academic or personal projects count!).

Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effectively conveying technical information and documentation.

Ability to manage assigned tasks and contribute to meeting project milestones.

Eagerness to learn how to evaluate and analyze design tradeoffs for hardware systems and architectures.

Thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment and is eager to learn.

Strong organizational skills and a collaborative work style.

Willingness and ability to undertake extensive travel, including internationally, as required by project needs. Candidates should be able to obtain the necessary documentation for international travel readily.

NEEDED EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a closely related engineering field.
