Summary/Objective
The Commercial Lender position reports directly to the SVP Commercial Lending and is responsible for managing a commercial loan portfolio and assisting in the origination of primarily commercial and industrial and real estate loans. Responsibilities also include ensuring all loans are made within bank policy and applicable laws and regulations. This position is responsible for overall credit quality of the portfolio and achieving margin and fee income goals.
Essential Functions

Generates loan and deposit relationships for the bank. This includes soliciting new business relationships and deepening relationships with existing customers.
Manages the loan portfolio. This responsibility includes credit quality, credit approval, operations process, and the profitability of the portfolio.
Pays particular attention to credit quality. Responsibilities include overseeing the collection of delinquent commercial loans, recommendations for charge-offs, and collection of charged-off loans.
With support from the loan support staff, ensures loan files are complete and documented on a timely basis in accordance with bank policies.
Maximizes fee income associated with loans and maintains an interest rate structure in accordance with overall bank philosophy.
Makes appropriate recommendations for approvals/account maintenance based on periodic assessment and analysis of financial statements, tax returns, cash flow history, current debt, and other relevant information.
Maintains a strong knowledge of the Bank’s policies and procedures, and identifies deviations from policy.
Ensures data entry is accurate and complete.
Calls on key existing and prospective clients while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Actively participates in community and civic organizations as appropriate, to represent the bank in the community.
Consistently demonstrates appropriate interpersonal communication skills with customers, coworkers, and outside vendors.
Follows all Unison Bank policies and procedures.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role. The employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, handle files and documents, and operate a computer and keyboard. The employee is also regularly required to communicate with customers and other staff members and exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee is occasionally required to move about inside the office. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and reviewing/inspecting documents.

This is a full-time position.
Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field; or 5 years of business lending experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
7 or more years of business lending experience in a community bank. SBA experience.
