Job Description
We’re looking for an energetic & responsible Swim Instructor that has experience working with children (no swim instructor experience necessary). For this role, dependability & great attitude are key. You’re a team player & love going the extra mile helping children become safer in and around the water. You are a people person and enjoy working with children, interacting with the public & have a passion for teaching/coaching. You enjoy a positive work culture and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining focus & safety.
This is a part time position located in Boise for 10-30 hours a week. Hours are flexible and can include weekdays, weekends, mornings or afternoons/evenings. Pay starts at $13-$14/hr depending on experience.
Shifts needed:
M-F 345pm-730pm
T, W, F & S 830am-100pm
Sun 1145am-400pm
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
Enforces safety rules & regulations to prevent accidents
Makes rescues & administers first aid when necessary
Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner
Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities & development of students’ swim skills
Acts as a Goldfish “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction
Uses problem solving & creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter
Inspects pool areas before & after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues and reports issues to management as appropriate
Maintains & ensures proper storage of all pool equipment, places & removes lane lines
Reports accidents & incidents to management, completes required documentation & paperwork
Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed
Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion
Attends required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours
Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age requirement is 15
Swimming experience is helpful, but not required
Ability to work with children
Ability to learn, be trained & coached
Experience as a swim instructor, certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider preferred
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Certificates and Licenses: CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (provided by us)
Shallow water attendant, highly recommended
Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity, noise level is usually moderate
