Job Purpose/Duties
This position is responsible for the regular operation of the Rink weeknights and weekends (some weekend mornings) as scheduled by management. It involves full knowledge of planning and the coordination of programs and activities. Supervision and training of staff assigned on the shift when full time management is off duty. Ensures that staff carry out all their duties and responsibilities. Ensure all equipment is free of debris and is safe for operation. Have full knowledge and ability to properly operate all cash registers. Responsible for all monies and making deposits as required. Have full knowledge to properly operate Zamboni and maintain a quality ice surface. Have full knowledge and ability to perform all tasks required to assist customers:

At the Rink Side Pro Shop
At the Rink Side Café Reports all situations out of the ordinary and accidents to the Skating Rink Supervisor and provide an incident report. Perform whatever tasks are needed to assure a well-run and maintained facility. Responsible for the safety of its patrons in addition to staff. Required to open and close the Rink at schedule times which will vary throughout the year based on facility usage. This position exercises independent judgement adhering to the policies of the Rink.
Daily Shift Functions
Perform whatever tasks are needed to assure a clean and well-run facility;
Operate Zamboni Ice Resurfacer to resurface the ice;
Operate cash registers to wait on customers;
Sell retail merchandise;
Restock brochure racks;
Assist in snack bar to restock and clean area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the modern principles and practices of public recreation;
Substantial knowledge and appreciation of the ideals and objectives of planned recreation programs;
Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate recreational programs for a variety of interests and age groups;
Knowledge of first aid methods and safety precautions used in recreation work;
Excellent customer service skills;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and subordinates as well as community organizations and the general public;
Ability to prepare clear and concise records and reports;
Excellent communication skills.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an ice skating rink with independence and initiative, referring unusual problems to the Skating Rink Supervisor. Manages multiple priorities adhering to established time frames and performance standards. Must be mobile, able to push/pull light objects, occasionally lift objects up to 30 pounds. Must be able to perform such tasks as writing, typing, using a calculator, and skills which require hand-eye coordination such as using a computer or cash register. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Frequent interaction with people utilizing extensive oral and written communication. Must be able to concentrate on fine details with constant interruption. Remember multiple assignments given over long periods of time. Must be able to communicate and be understood clearly; hearing requirements include the ability to effectively interact with customers in person or by telephone.
Required Qualifications
Graduated from high school and experience in planning and conducting organized recreational activities that includes varied administrative responsibilities.
