About Performance Academies

Performance Academies is a network of high-performing charter schools dedicated to preparing students in grades K-8 for success in college, career, and life through a strong academic foundation, rigorous character education, and daily physical fitness. With 16 schools across Ohio—including six K-8 schools in Columbus—Performance Academies is expanding its mission to high school with the launch of Performance High School in Columbus.

Position Overview

As the Founding Principal of Performance High School, you will lead the design, development, and launch of a new high school that will begin with a 9th-grade class and grow one grade level each year. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, mission-driven school leader to shape a dynamic, academically rigorous, and character-focused high school from the ground up. The Principal will be responsible for academic excellence, school culture, operations, and community engagement, ensuring a seamless transition for students matriculating from Performance Academies' K-8 campuses.

Key Responsibilities

School Leadership & Vision

Develop and implement the school’s academic vision, aligned with the Performance Academies model and Ohio state standards.

Establish and maintain a strong school culture rooted in high expectations, personal responsibility, physical wellness, and moral character.

Lead the development of curriculum, instructional practices, and school-wide systems.

Serve as the school’s instructional leader, guiding teacher development, professional learning, and data-driven instruction. Founding & Operational Management

Oversee all planning, hiring, and operational logistics for school opening.

Build a high-performing team of teachers and staff who are aligned with the school’s mission and culture.

Collaborate with Performance Academies’ central office to ensure operational efficiency, including budgeting, scheduling, compliance, and facilities planning. Student Achievement & Accountability

Set and achieve ambitious academic and behavioral goals.

Monitor student progress and implement interventions and supports as needed.

Ensure the use of assessment data to drive instructional decisions and school improvement. Family & Community Engagement

Build strong relationships with families, students, staff, and the Columbus community.

Foster partnerships with feeder K-8 Performance Academies and external organizations to support student success and high school growth.

Communicate regularly and transparently with stakeholders about student progress, school goals, and performance.
