The Retail Team in the St Louis office is seeking qualified candidates for an Intermediate Designer position with our professional services & retail national brands rollout team starting immediately. The team specializes in collaborating with clients, general contractors and building departments to roll out their brands with services including building surveys, due diligence, code analysis, architectural construction documents. engineer coordination and permitting services. Project involvement may also include space planning, finish selection, design development and detailing but brand standards are generally in place already and just need to be implemented. Typical project size is 3,000 SF of interior remodel but can range from 1,500 – 5,000 SF. Some construction administration including shop drawing review and responding to RFI’s will also be part of this position. Most project work is communicative, organizational, technical and production oriented in nature.
Candidate Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited institution
3+ years professional experience in a commercial or retail design firm using Revit and AutoCAD
Excellent design, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Knowledge of general interior construction, methods & materials, details and standard building codes.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft (Office, Outlook, Excel, Word) is a minimum requirement with openness to learn new software to enhance the client experience.
Basic/entry level Project Management skills meeting project schedules & deadlines
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume, work environment with the ability to manage up to 40-50 project deadlines at one time.
Client interaction/communication balanced with production mindset
Responsiveness to all client, general contractor and building department questions and concerns.
Ability to site adapt & implement established brand standards to a project anywhere in the nation.
Nationally and regionally recognized accessibility standards knowledge (ICC, Chapter 11B, TAS & ADA).
General life safety, separation and fire code knowledge.
Experience with client maintenance, engineer coordination, applying for permits, building department interaction, issuing construction documents and addressing building department comments.
