ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Report to work and clock in/out for scheduled shifts and required breaks on time and in complete and proper uniform; must wear common protective or safety equipment as required
Approach all interaction with Members, guests, and colleagues in a courteous, service-oriented manner
Remain attentive, friendly, helpful, courteous, and respectful to Members, guests, managers and fellow employees at all times
Help maintain a clean and safe maintenance building and mechanic workshop; ensure safety is a top priority
Help train golf course maintenance staff in proper use of equipment, preventative maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment
Help inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including: diesel, electric, and gasoline powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility work
Complete equipment repair and maintenance work as directed by Mechanic
Record details of all repairs made and parts used and provide to Mechanic
Help maintain inventory of equipment and parts purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventative maintenance for all equipment
Help maintain, repair, and overhaul vehicles, such as tractors, sprayers, mowers and irrigation systems
Spot check equipment for performance, frequently make emergency repairs to equipment on the course and service equipment prior to use as directed by Mechanic
Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with staff to locate and diagnose malfunctions
Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools
Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, test operation, and make adjustments as necessary
Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools
Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws
Clean and lubricate parts
Tune or overhaul engines
Drive truck to hauls tool and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery
Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses and other machine tools
Communicate any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Mechanic or Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Understanding of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf
Ability to operate tools and machinery and safely maneuver open/closed vehicles or equipment
Knowledge of tools, methods, materials, and equipment used for course grounds and landscape area maintenance
Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of golf course equipment and machinery
Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced environment; ability to meet deadlines
Ability to remain attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to managers and fellow employees
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow all Club policies, systems, controls and procedures
Ability to work 6am to 2pm shifts, some overtime and weekends
Valid CA driver's license
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Minimum one years related experience or training
OSHA Hazard Communication Standard training required
Training as demanded by the state and federal governments required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, at least eight hours
Ability to walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, and reach
Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis
Ability to move about freely in a two-story maintenance facility
Ability to withstand continuous repetitive physical and mental activities
Primarily works in outdoor covered garage; ability to work in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions
Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 45 F degrees) temperatures
May be exposed to hazardous equipment/conditions; potential for minor burns, cuts, bites, stings
May be exposed to noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
Works with equipment containing moving mechanical parts
May come into contact with contaminants, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, or sharp objects
Background check and pre-employment drug screening required
