Die Setter Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up presses that range in size and choose the appropriate fixtures for each job. You will also load coils of sheet metal onto the presses and help with the actual operation of the metal stamping equipment if necessary. We expect all items to be completed accurately and consistently, so you will also conduct quality assurance tests using precision measuring tools.

Specific job duties include:

Sets up dies in both manual and automatic presses.

Troubleshoot die problems with appropriate personnel.

Select and set speed and feed of machine according to type of operation and specified material.

Recommend adjustments to processes and equipment to produce a product that meets company standards and customer requirements.

Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).

Coordinate and pre-stage all necessary items for die change.

Loads coils and feeds material into die where applicable.

Inspects parts for quality defects. Measures part to ensure they meet specifications.

Performs first piece inspection of set-up parts as required by quality and/or as directed by supervisor.

Fill out accurately all paperwork (inspection data sheets, die inspection log/list) pertaining to any/all dies being set.

Monitors press for proper operation and reports any malfunctions or problems to supervisor and maintenance.

Operate forklift as needed for pre-staging and set-up of dies.

Maintain and keep organized all equipment, tools, etc. used during above responsibilities.
