POSITION SUMMARY:

· Purchase and manage inventory thru ERP system to satisfy customer demand to meet on time ship expectations while meeting UEA inventory goals

· Manage vendor contracts and supplier stocking agreements

· Negotiate with current suppliers, or identify alternate suppliers, to drive standard material cost improvements (PPV)

· Evaluate supplier performance for price, quality, and delivery

· Other projects and duties as assigned by Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Manager

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports directly to the Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Manager. No positions report to the Buyer.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Sourcing Specialist position will primarily work in a plant office setting which is a temperature controlled, smoke free environment that also has typical factory hazards including noise, dust, and tripping hazards. United Equipment Accessories, Inc. functions in a real market environment that changes at various times of the year which occasionally may create high output or greater time pressure demands. This is an exempt position and completion of duties regardless of the number of hours or number of days worked per week is expected. These hours may vary according to operations and business demands. Occasional travel may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:

· Follow rules and processes as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety and Quality Manuals as to conduct and performance standards expected of all employees

· Maintain a positive work attitude that reflects the UEA Core Values (Care, Hardworking/Dedicated, Creative Problem Solver and Knowledge Seeker)

· Use multiple computer systems including ERP and Microsoft Suite systems to perform supply chain transactions, adjustments and monitor material flow; enter and release purchase orders according to schedule, blanket order and Kanban requirements

· Analyze actual and forecasted demand to manage vendor and item planning parameters to achieve optimal inventory turns, ideal lot sizes, and best pricing on orders which meet customer service, operational and financial KPI’s

· Effectively identify, react, and communicate material shortages and material plans that do not meet customer requirements to key personnel across multiple departments

· Foster positive and effective supplier relationships, perform monthly supplier performance evaluation and report recommendations to Manager

· Manage vendor contracts and supplier stocking agreements

· Negotiate with current suppliers, or identify alternate suppliers, to drive standard material cost improvements (PPV)

· Work with Engineering to provide drawing revision updates to suppliers ensuring timely and accurate material distribution

· Collaborate with Quality team regarding VRMA process; including appropriate recording, product return, monitoring and closure of supplier non-conforming materials; communicating information to essential stakeholders

· Identify, recommend, and implement continuous improvement, process, and efficiency enhancement opportunities

· Collaborate with the Production Planner position to provide intradepartmental support, as necessary, to ensure UEA customer and business demands are met

· Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position and situation

· Maintain an organized, tidy work area and clean equipment

· Demonstrate physical, regular, and punctual attendance and communicate scheduled and unscheduled absences in advance

· Complete tasks and projects accurately, timely and within budget and priority guidelines

· Follow through and communicate questions, project information and status

· Demonstrate collaborative working relationships, good judgment, reasoning, and professional conduct in all business interactions with employees at all levels of the organization

· Performs other duties as directed by Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain ManagerRequirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent along with continuing education related to manufacturing operations or supply chain management.

EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing/buying/sourcing in a manufacturing environment.

SKILLS - Strong written and oral communication skills are essential to effectively collect and disseminate information with suppliers, customers, and employees at all levels of the organization. Superior analytical and problem solving ability, exceptional time management, organization and prioritization skills are critical competencies. Strong forecasting, scheduling, and capacity optimization skills are desired along with knowledge of Kanban methods and Lean Manufacturing principles. Proficient with MS Office Suite, strong keyboarding skills and ERP experience preferred, specifically in production planning, materials management or sourcing. Must be an extremely responsive, action-oriented self-starter who can quickly shift between changing priorities and successfully work within time and budgetary constraints.

PHYSICAL - Regularly required to sit, walk, talk, and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficiently to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations. Possess specific vision abilities including near vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus (with corrective lenses if necessary) and be able to lift up to 40 lbs. to perform the requirements of the position.

MENTAL - Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently and possess the ability to communicate clearly on technical and business levels while maintaining professional conduct is essential.
