The Stephens College Athletics Sports Information Director will be responsible for various duties relating to media coverage for four nationally competitive sport programs. This position will be responsible for producing and providing information to electronic and print media outlets; developing publications, collecting statistical data, records and history on current and past student athletes; ensuring effective presence on the departmental web page and appropriate social media outlets through the development; and execution of written and multimedia content (videos, photography, broadcasts, social media posts and graphic design).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

85% of time estimated spent:

Developing athletic department publications (media guides, schedules, etc.).

Compiling and distributing stats.

Managing Social Media pages.

Managing Athletic Website.

Managing web broadcasts.

Managing Game Days (stats, table crews, concessions, ticketing, etc.).

Producing graphic designs for game days, recruiting visits, and announcements.

Photography

15% of time estimated spent:

Working departmental special events as assigned by the Associate VP of Intercollegiate Athletics.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervising game day workers and work study students.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Managing the Sports Information Budget.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics.

EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT

Position requires extensive internal face to face contact, telephone, email, mailing and other mediums of dialogue with College personnel and significant interaction with faculty, staff, and students, as well as other academic departments daily. Position also requires extensive contact with alumni, supporters, and the public.Requirements:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or NAIA and AMC regulations

Ability to write reports and business correspondence (AMC players of the week, conference player nominations, Woman of the Year, etc.)

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of media, administrators, faculty, staff, students, public groups and/or Board of Trustee’s

Requires the ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines and telephone systems.

Requires the ability to use computers for data entry

Requires the ability to use computers for word processing, graphic design, photography and videos. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s degree. Master’s Degree preferred – in communications, journalism, sports management or public relations

1-2 years related to intercollegiate athletics media relations

Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations

Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office Windows) Adobe Suite preferred.

Familiarity with Presto Stats software, Sidearm Website software, Production Truck, Hudl, Boxout, Hometown Ticketing and graphic software
