The Academy Director is responsible for overseeing Empowered Early Learning Academy-Columbus to ensure that children have a safe and fun environment to learn and socialize with others. If you are ready to EMPOWER young minds and families, then continue reading!
In a Director, we look for a committed individual who desires to make a difference in the lives of young children and their families, while effectively and efficiently running all Academy operations. The Director will need to be a self-starter, and willing to meet the needs of our scholars. The Director promotes the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children under his/her care and works with the Academy’s staff to create an environment of learning while keeping parents informed of the progress of their child.
The successful candidate will manage our day-to-day operations and should have previous program experience and a minimum of 3 years in a preschool or childcare center. Must hold a CDA, Bachelor's in Education or related field approved by ODJFS is required.

Director Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee staff: Staff management is probably the most important task of the Academy Director. He/She will interview, hire and train staff, making sure that all background and fingerprint checks are completed. Creating and adjusting daily staff schedules,
Manage facilities: The Academy Director will make sure that the facility is safe and well stocked. That includes checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards and ensuring the facility is always clean and orderly.
Create a budget: The Academy Director will manage the facility’s finances, which includes working within a budget.
Market the facility: There is much competition between facilities, so the Academy Director must have a marketing plan to promote awareness of the facility and its services. Ensure presence in the community, growth of new families and children in the center
Meeting with parents: The Academy Director will meet with parents to keep parents up-to-date on their child’s development and progress, including discussing ways to address any learning or behavioral issues.
Compliance: The Academy Director will maintain compliant with DCY state child care licensing, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) requirements, maintenance of accurate children's and staff files; and train and monitor staff on SUTQ guidelines and paperwork.
Community Connections: Create positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners.
Requirements
Must hold a CDA (minimum) AA or higher in Education with a concentration in Child Development or Early Childhood
Career Pathways Level 3 certification
Knowledge of Step Up to Quality (SUTQ)
Prior Director/Assistant Director experience necessary
Knowledge of ODJFS/DCY licensing rules
Highly motivated, self-directed
Clean BCI/FBI background
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as must meet deadlines
Model appropriate interactions between children and their families
