The Maintenance Technician – plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of farm equipment and facilities on a poultry farm. This position focuses on the routine mechanical maintenance and repair of farm vehicles, including trucks, tractors, and trailers. Ensuring effective cleaning and sanitation of poultry houses and equipment. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and mechanically skilled, with a strong commitment to biosecurity and animal welfare standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Sanitation & Cleaning
Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and transport vehicles used in poultry operations.
Operate pressure washers, disinfectant sprayers, and other sanitation tools to ensure thorough biosecurity compliance.
Remove litter, feathers, and organic waste safely and efficiently.
Maintain clean workspaces, walkways, and sanitation stations throughout the farm.
Farm Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of farm trucks, tractors, and trailers to and all Equipment to ensure safety and performance.
Perform oil changes, filter replacements, tire checks, and brake inspections.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles and equipment.
Maintain feed delivery equipment, skid steers, and utility vehicles used in day-to-day farm operations.
Keep detailed service logs and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
Biosecurity & Safety Compliance
Adhere strictly to all farm biosecurity protocols during maintenance and cleaning tasks.
Ensure that vehicles and trailers are properly cleaned and disinfected before and after each use, especially when transporting supplies.
Follow safety procedures for handling chemicals, waste, and equipment.
Report and resolve potential hazards that could compromise poultry health or farm operations.
Facility Maintenance Support
Assist with the maintenance of farm buildings, feed bins, ventilation systems, and water lines as needed.
Support emergency response for mechanical or environmental control failures.
Maintain an organized maintenance workshop, ensuring tools and parts are stored properly.
