About the Office of Alternative Project Delivery, Division of Construction Management

The Office of Alternative Project Delivery supports construction project oversight through digital tools and data management. Our work includes maintaining construction management software, assisting with claims and dispute documentation, and supporting local project monitoring. We also explore new technologies to improve how field staff manage and track project progress.

What You’ll Do

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented student intern to assist with a range of data and technology-related tasks. As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in organizing and analyzing data, updating spreadsheets, creating basic dashboards, and documenting workflows. You’ll also support ongoing efforts to develop digital inspection tools and help maintain software used for managing construction projects.

Your work may involve:

Helping prepare and organize project data for analysis

Updating and formatting spreadsheets and other documentation

Assisting with documenting software and system workflows

Supporting digital methods for construction inspection

Accompanying staff on occasional project site visits to observe field processes and collect information

Assist in customer service of construction software

This internship offers a chance to apply your technical skills in a practical, real-world setting while learning more about the intersection of technology and construction. A background in computers or data analysis is helpful, and an interest in construction methods is a plus but not required. You’ll have the opportunity to advance your knowledge base, gain valuable & practical experience, and give you the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Work as part of a team to use data analysis approach to solve business problems in daily operations.

• Create tracking tools that cross-reference information to communicate outcome measurements to applicable end users.

• Assist in creation of system documentation, manipulate and analyze data from multiple sources to identify patterns and anomalies, draws conclusions and make recommendations based on analyses.

• Assist in compiling data, creating and update spreadsheets and PowerPoint decks in support of assigned projects.

• Participate in the advancement of software, process methodologies, root cause analysis, value adding performance, concept, and design.

• Attend training workshops and staff meetings, gain networking skills, and perform meaningful work related to their course of study.

Necessary Skills:

• Ability to apply good logic and critical thought processes when developing solutions.

• Strong written and oral communication.

• Work with or without supervisor while completing assigned tasks.

• Ability to work within teams and maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment that often requires completion of multiple tasks.

• Experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visual, Access, Pivot Analysis, and basic macro functions, along with and standard office equipment (e.g., scanner, copier).

• Understanding of research methods to review and analyze data.

Schedule: 20 - 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Travel: There may be opportunities for in-state travel.
